I'm not sure if its better than penetrol, since so much about paint flow has to do with ambient temperature and even the temperature of the wood; and I haven't done a one on one, same time and place comparison. However, from this first use, it appear to work great.

I may be y the only Kirby customer who uses your paints for the scratch model boats I build. I spend more and end up with more unused paint than if I were to use model paints, but I love the way Kirby paints apply and, of course, how great they look!

Kirby's paint is the real deal. Easy to work with and wears like iron. I finished the bottom of this CLC Shearwater kayak with 2 coats of Bottle Green (no primer). After 10 years to beach grinding, just sanded and refinished. Good for another 10 years.

Very high quality paint. I previously tried thinning with mineral spirits or turpentine and was not satisfied with the final appearance. The Kirby Conditioner was a huge improvement. It is becoming harder to find good solvents in the usual stores these days, so Kirby’s was well worth it. The photo shows Kirby Rich Red #21, thinned 10% with Kirby Conditioner applied with a sponge roller and tipped with a soft badger hair artist brush.
